In Peru, alpaca fibre is graded with the very finest called 'royal' (in Australia this is called 'ultrafine'), the next called 'baby' (in Australia this is 'superfine').  Baby alpaca is usually around 21micron and perfect to be worn against sensitive skin like your neck, so for the best results, scarves should be made from 'royal' or 'baby' alpaca.
